Pregnancy After Fertility Treatment: Bringing Your Records Together

Make the handover from fertility care to pregnancy care clearer with a complete treatment summary.

After fertility treatment, a clear handover helps the maternity team understand your pregnancy and current medicines. Ask both teams who is responsible for care during the transition.

Request a concise summary

Bring the treatment dates, transfer details where relevant, early scan reports and current prescriptions. Ask the fertility clinic for written instructions about medicines and follow-up rather than relying on memory.

Confirm the next contact

Check when the first maternity appointment should take place and whom to call before then. If your care moves between hospitals, keep copies of reports yourself. Tell the new team about any complications during treatment.

Avoid changing medicines independently

Do not stop or extend a medicine because of advice from a forum or another patient. Clarify the plan with the prescribing clinician. The first antenatal visit is also a chance to discuss concerns after a difficult fertility journey and ask what support is available. Good handover is about continuity, not simply transferring a folder.
